PROJECT PURPOSE

The purpose of Francis Tuttle?s project is to dramatically increase healthcare training capacity in the nursing field. The primary focus will be to dramatically boost students earning LPN licensures, expand existing partnerships with healthcare employers and universities to boost LPN to RN pipelines. To accommodate this endeavor a world-class training facility will be built that will include an advanced simulation curriculum and labs to bolster and quicken student competency attainment and take full advantage of the permissible simulation hours as a substitute for clinical hours.

EVIDENCE

Countless economic development studies performed by the Oklahoma City Chamber, Oklahoma State Chamber, employers, and economists suggest that the healthcare workforce shortages are a serious and growing problem.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

This project will provide equitable upskilling for low-income and racial and ethnic minority groups, providing rapid economic stabilization for households and businesses and reskilling, and workforce transition opportunities for veterans that reside in Francis Tuttle?s district.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Project performance will be measured by the total number of LPN enrollments, percentage of enrollment capacity utilization each year, the total number of LPN program completions each year, minority participation rates, LPN licensures earned each year, successful LPN to RN postsecondary transitions, related job placement, wages earned, employer satisfaction, and business recruitment and expansion within the Oklahoma City metropolitan statistical area.
