PROJECT PURPOSE

Construct a new, mechanical waste water treatment facility. The City of Collinsville is still presently using lagoons. Our population has increased dramatically in the last ten years. We are in dire need of a mechanical waste water treatment plant.

EVIDENCE

The City has conceptual cost estimates. Can that be uploaded? This project is one of several water and sewer infrastructure projects the city is in need of. This project is at the top of our prioritization list and is sorely needed by our growing city. As of December 9, 2021, the city had 209 housing permits. There were 178 last year. Our growth continues and we are in dire need of help in keeping up with our growth.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

This project will help all citizens of Collinsville now and into the future. We must be prepared for future generations to have proper sewer treatment and clean drinking water. Waste water treatment is changing. Now, instead of discharging to ground and water surfaces, waste water can be treated for drinking water to serve citizens. There are many elderly people in Collinsville who are the vulnerable population. Many of our citizens were disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Business owners closed for a long period of time, some not reopening. This left many of our citizens without jobs and the means to pay for basic needs. We may take clean, treated water for granted now, however water will be gold in the future. It is the responsibility of those of us placed in government positions to make sure our people have access to clean water and proper waste water treatment. These are two of the basic necessities of life safety and health,

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The City of Collinsville is in the process right now of constructing a new water treatment plant. This new plant will be state of the art in water treatment and replaces the old plant which was built in 1979.
