PROJECT PURPOSE

OKC Fairgrounds is building a new Coliseum to replace the aging Norick Arena to host basketball championships, statewide youth ag shows, national cattle shows and national and international equine events that feature Oklahoma Youth and Adults competing at the OKC Fairgrounds in the new Coliseum. In addition, some of the funds will go for upgraded lighting, electrical, and water services to keep us attractive to National Cattle Events like the Cattle Congress held in January 2021 and scheduled again for January 2022. These funds will make-up the current project budget shortfalls that have been caused by escalating prices due to labor and material supply challenges as a result of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

EVIDENCE

OKC Fairgrounds thru the use of the current Norick Arena provides over $350 million direct economic into the State and Oklahoma County and City economies thru ag , equine and consumer events that take place on an annual basis. The new Coliseum allows us to continue and grow this impact and stay competive with cities like Ft. Worth, TX. and Denver , Colorado.
