POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The town of Tullahassee is Oklahoma's first historic black town where over 90% of its residents are black and many are elderly. With Tullahassee improving its governmental operations and modernization, it will help make government more easily accessible for residents. It will help the town be more efficient in meeting citizens' needs and concerns. As a rural, predominantly minority town, Tullahassee was deeply impacted by COVID through loss of employment and income, lack of access to technology and other basic needs.
