POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Located within a Qualified Census Tract, OKCMOA?s capital project will share the Museum?s mission with a wide variety of vulnerable populations within expanded and modernized galleries and classrooms that will newly accommodate non-English speakers. Project will support a broad menu of free, mission-based programs to vulnerable populations: ? Complimentary admission to all children under 18, or 24 percent of Oklahoma?s population ? Fully reimbursed field trips to Oklahoma students; more than 2,000 schools were high-poverty Title I in 2016 ? Artmaking for teenagers with behavioral needs in the SSM Health system ? In-gallery experiences for residents of senior care facilities with Alzheimer?s and dementia These populations suffered disproportionately during the COVID-19 pandemic through: ? Decreased opportunities for socialization ? Fewer opportunities for intellectual and emotional enrichment The Museum?s Distance Learning program was created in 2021 to address educational disparities that disproportionately impact minority, low-income, and rural students. By making Distance Learning accessible to all the state?s more than 700,000 public school students, in addition to private, college, and home-schooled students, all Oklahoma children will have access to live instruction that: ? Meets Oklahoma Educational Standards in STEAM ? Encourages critical thinking and communication skills that will transform Oklahoma?s future workforce
