PROJECT PURPOSE

Live 180 will be a multi-dimensional health and wellness facility dedicated to improving the quality of life for Oklahomans with disabilities. The limited availability of health and wellness programs available for individuals with disabilities in Oklahoma disproportionately impacts over 16% of our state. Envision a state of the art wellness facility that provides everything from weight lifting, swimming, rock climbing, yoga, basketball, medical care, therapy, to community building; where all of these activities are completely accessible to individuals with disabilities. This is Live 180, and is desperately needed in central and western Oklahoma. Live 180 is when a person has had a catastrophic event or new diagnosis, and face their disability head on to become proactive in improving their quality of life and see their abilities not their disability. Live 180 will help individuals set goals and work to achieve them by providing the adaptation needed to help them be successful. 180 means putting their life on a new trajectory as a result of an injury or diagnosis. Life is not the same as before, it is a new way of lifestyle, but all Oklahomans should have the opportunity to strive for maximum quality of life.

EVIDENCE

1 in 2 ? half of all individuals with disabilities get no physical activity. This is staggering. Access to athletic and wellness opportunities are a given for able bodied individuals, but individuals with disabilities are often left out. The need for access to facilities and programs for individuals with disabilities to improve health is tremendous. Live 180 is the solution to this issue for Oklahoma. Disabilities do not go away. The need for Live 180 is paramount today, tomorrow, and for generations. This collaboration desires to create an all-encompassing life-long approach to health and wellness for individuals with disabilities.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

Live 180 is a once in a lifetime opportunity to develop services for Oklahomans that have not been addressed. Over 16% of Oklahomans are living with a disability, that is over 600,000 people. Live 180 will have programs designed to serve all types of disabilities, from visually impaired to wheelchair users and from hearing impaired to those with intellectual disabilities. Live 180 will be a hub of activity that provides health and wellness services for people of all abilities from across the entire state of Oklahoma, and create services that are not currently available to impacted Oklahomans. As a result of traumatic injuries and or life-long disabilities, individuals and especially youth with disabilities many times feel isolated because they are unable to complete activities of daily living (?ADL?) on their own or participate in recreation activities with their able-bodied friends. This was exacerbated exponentially during the pandemic when the few programs there were available were forced to shut down. The pandemic has put a magnifying glass on the need for a safe environment for people with disabilities to improve health and build community.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

The collaborative team employs a detailed system to track performance - this includes both qualitative and quantitative methods, program registrations and surveys, CRM software, and financial reporting. Each collaborative partner prepares monthly income statements and financial reports, and the programs integrated into the financial management systems. These results undergo an in-depth analysis every six months, and adjustments to programming are made as needed. The medical partners employ these same procedures, but even more so through electronic medical records capabilities. This data will be able to inform programmatic decisions with precise accuracy, and develop programs that are customized to each individual.
