POPULATION DESCRIPTION
Overall television production fell 97.8% during 2020 and much of the industry?s workforce of 890,000 professionals (nationwide) were rendered unemployed overnight. The film and television industries $53 billion in wages included 342,000 lost jobs in production, marketing, manufacturing, and distributing films and television with an average salary of $90,000 or 68% higher than the average nationwide salary (Busch, 2018). Currently, the creative economy business is in economic distress. Lost revenue for the state of Oklahoma approximates $606 million, while 61% of Oklahoma?s creative business was severely impacted by Covid-19. Forty-six percent of creative workers were made unemployed by Covid-19, while Oklahoma experienced an estimated $543 million in total loss revenue. Covid-19 has caused a disproportionate impact on disadvantage communities, many lacking policies, infrastructure and resources to thrive before the Covid-19 pandemic.
PERFORMANCE MEASURING
Working in partnership with the OF+MO, we will roll out training curriculum with three beta campuses, and measure job creation and industry sector growth. As the program grows, we will make available to additional campuses, and build an Oklahoma Media Production Academy student sound stage so students can receive hands on training to get them ready for job placement. The project performance will be measured by total number of students that complete workforce training and are placed on production jobs. The ultimate measurement will be job growth in media production, total number of new jobs created.
