PROJECT PURPOSE

The Oklahoma Statewide Poverty & Housing First Strategy will align existing poverty and 'housing first' efforts into one coordinated effort to eliminate deep poverty and homelessness in urban and rural Oklahoma.

EVIDENCE

There is a wide body of national and global research on the efficacy of 'housing first' strategies, and the limited strategies that have been deployed in Oklahoma to date, most notably the Hotel to Housing strategy in Tulsa, have shown strong success outcomes.

POPULATION DESCRIPTION

The impact of COVID-19 to the poorest in Oklahoma is beginning to be seen, as has the deep impact to the working poor. Higher rates of childhood food insecurity and housing instability related to job and opportunity loss from the pandemic has resulted in many more Oklahoma families suffering from instances of poverty.

PERFORMANCE MEASURING

Utilizing technology currently under development, the agency and partners will perform long-term case management, allowing for production of what will likely be the largest data set around homeless interventions in the history of Oklahoma.
